Industrial Robots Speeding Up To The Middle and High End

2018-07-23 10:22:44

Recently, the China Robotics Industry Alliance released related data. Last year, the market share of domestic industrial robots fell below 27%, down 6 percentage points year-on-year, the first decline in five years. Since 2013, China has been the largest consumer of industrial robots for five consecutive years. Benefiting from strong market demand, the scale of the domestic robot industry has maintained a high growth rate of 20% in the past five years. Industry experts said that the current industrial robot industry is at a critical stage of transformation and upgrading. China should focus on upgrading core key technologies, guiding the development of the industry, and actively deploying the next generation of robots to win the opportunity for the industry to move towards the middle and high end.
The progress is obvious, but the core key technologies are weak, and industrial applications are concentrated in the low-end。

In 2017, the domestic industrial robot production reached 131,000 units, an increase of 81% year-on-year. By the end of 2017, there were more than 6,500 robot-related enterprises nationwide.

In recent years, various levels of government in China have issued a series of supportive policies and measures, and the robot industry has made great progress. Zhao Yicun, an engineer at Tianjin Science Research Institute, said that the development of China's robot industry is showing new features of accelerating the transition to mid-to-high end. It has significantly improved its core components and system integration, and some aspects have approached or exceeded international standards.
However, industry experts also pointed out that due to the lack of core technologies for key components such as precision reducers, controllers, servo systems and high-performance drives, the overall competitiveness of domestically-owned branded industrial robots in the international market is still not high.
China's robot products still have low-end applications. Most domestically produced robots are used in low-end fields such as handling and palletizing. The results in multi-degree-of-freedom robots, interactive robots, and fully autonomous mobile robots are not obvious.
With the first-mover advantage and technological accumulation, abb, Yaskawa, FANUC and KUKA have occupied a high share of the domestic industrial robot market, especially in the field of high-end industrial robots. The market share of domestic robots only accounts for about 30%, and most of them are mainly assembly and processing. Experts remind that at present, China's robot industry needs to be alert to the low-level redundant construction and blind development. Some enterprises rely on various government subsidies for survival. This situation is in urgent need of change.
At the key turning point of transformation and upgrading, we should actively deploy a new generation of robots.
With the deep integration of information technology, especially Internet and artificial intelligence, the robot industry is at a critical turning point in the transformation and upgrading. Future robots will not only be used in manufacturing, but will also gradually enter all aspects of daily life. At present, traditional industrial robots have entered the era of low added value, and there is an urgent need for upgrading.

Many industry experts said that in the future, robots will realize a major transformation from "machine" to "robot", and the new generation of robots will be more intelligent, which provides a path for China's robot industry to move toward the middle and high end.
Thanks to the introduction of new technologies, robots can cooperate, collaborate and integrate with others. A new generation of robots, often referred to as collaborative robots, is seen by countries around the world as an important direction for the future development of robots.
Because it can graft artificial intelligence technologies such as vision and voice, collaborative robots are also considered to be the most realistic path for robots to realize intelligence. They have important application potentials in new retail, rehabilitation, and education fields.
China is the largest market for robot applications, providing enough application environment to detect and improve product performance, and then transform market advantages into technological advantages and industrial advantages.
The government and the market pay attention to the robot industry, which is conducive to the development of the industry, but it must be rational and objective, not blindly supported. Nowadays, there are many theories and paths for the development of various robots, but not all can withstand the scrutiny. We should focus more on the technology itself, focus on the market demand, and focus on the fields that represent the development trend of the industry. Industry upgrades take the lead.
